How to Use the Meta Tag Preview Tool

Why Use This Tool?

Is any of this information sent to a server?

No. Every preview is generated using plain JavaScript running in your browser, including loading your image URL directly into an <img>-style background — no title, description or URL you type is ever transmitted to us or stored anywhere.

Why do Google and social platforms show different previews?

Google generates its search snippet primarily from your <title> tag and <meta name="description"> tag (sometimes rewriting the description if it decides another part of the page is more relevant). Social platforms like Facebook, Twitter/X and LinkedIn instead read Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image) to build the card shown when a link is shared. This tool previews both so you can sanity-check your page against each surface separately.

How long should my title and description be?

Keep titles under roughly 60 characters and descriptions under about 155-160 characters to avoid truncation in Google's desktop results — mobile and social platforms vary slightly but similar limits apply. For social share images, a 1200×630px image is the safest universal size across Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter/X large-image cards.
