No. Text extraction runs entirely in your browser using the PDF.js library, and the resulting file is generated locally too. Your document is never sent to a server, which is reassuring for resumes, contracts and other private files.
How does this actually create a "Word" file?
Word can open HTML content saved with a .doc file extension — a long-standing, well-known trick. This tool wraps your extracted paragraphs in simple HTML and saves it with a .doc extension and the appropriate Word MIME type, so double-clicking it opens directly in Word as an editable document.
Will the original formatting be preserved?
No — this produces a plain, editable text document with paragraph breaks, not a pixel-perfect recreation of the PDF's original layout, fonts, columns or images. It's ideal when you need the words, not the exact look.
Does this work on scanned PDFs?
Only if the PDF has an underlying text layer. Purely scanned image PDFs without OCR won't have extractable text to convert.
