Why Use This Tool?
How is the hourly rate calculated from salary?
Hourly rate = Annual Salary ÷ (Hours per Week × Weeks per Year). Daily pay assumes an 8-hour workday, weekly pay is hourly × hours per week, and monthly pay is simply annual salary ÷ 12. Switching to "Hourly → Annual" runs the same formula in reverse, multiplying your hourly rate by hours per week and weeks per year.
Why does changing "Weeks per Year" matter?
The default of 52 assumes you're paid for every week including holidays and vacation. If your employer only pays for weeks actually worked (e.g. 50 weeks after 2 unpaid weeks off), lowering this number gives a more accurate real hourly rate for comparison purposes.
Is this useful for comparing job offers?
Yes — a very common use case is comparing a salaried offer against a contract or freelance hourly rate on equal footing. Just enter each offer's numbers and compare the resulting hourly and annual figures side by side.
Does this account for taxes or benefits?
No. These are gross (pre-tax) pay estimates only, based purely on the numbers you enter. They do not account for income tax, insurance, retirement contributions, bonuses or other benefits, so treat the results as a planning estimate rather than your actual take-home pay — this is not financial or tax advice.
