How to Use the Screen Recorder
- Click "Start Screen Recording" — your browser will ask what you want to share: an entire screen, a window, or a browser tab.
- Choose what to record and optionally enable "Share audio" in the browser's picker if you want system or tab sound included.
- Click "Stop" (or use the browser's own "Stop sharing" control) when you're done.
- Preview the recording, then click "Download Recording" to save it, or "Record Again" for another take.
Why Use This Tool?
Is my screen recording uploaded anywhere?
No. Screen capture uses your browser's built-in getDisplayMedia and MediaRecorder APIs, which assemble the video entirely inside your browser's memory. Nothing is streamed to a server or seen by us. The recording only leaves your device if you explicitly click "Download Recording," which saves the file directly to your computer.
What if I cancel the screen-share prompt or deny permission?
If you close the browser's screen-sharing picker without selecting anything, or your browser blocks the request, this tool detects that gracefully and shows a message letting you know no recording was started — nothing crashes or hangs, and you can simply click "Start Screen Recording" again whenever you're ready.
Can I record audio along with my screen?
Yes, if your browser and the source you choose support it. When the sharing picker appears, look for a "Share audio" or "Share tab audio" checkbox — enabling it includes system or tab sound in the recording. Microphone narration isn't captured by this tool by default, since screen and mic capture use separate browser permissions.
What format is the downloaded video in?
Recordings download as WebM video files, a widely supported open format that plays natively in most modern browsers and many media players. If you need another format like MP4 for a specific platform, convert the downloaded file afterward with a dedicated video converter.
