Why Use This Tool?
Is this real tax advice?
No. This calculator provides a simplified numerical estimate only. It is not tax, legal or financial advice, and it does not reflect any specific country's actual tax code, deductions, credits, allowances or filing status. Always consult your local tax authority or a licensed tax professional for figures you plan to rely on.
What are the "example progressive brackets"?
The bracket mode uses a made-up illustrative tier structure (portions of income taxed at increasing rates as income rises) purely to demonstrate how progressive taxation works mathematically — where only the income within each bracket is taxed at that bracket's rate, not your whole income at the top rate. Real bracket thresholds and rates differ significantly by country and change over time.
What is "effective tax rate"?
Your effective rate is the total tax owed divided by your total income, expressed as a percentage. In a flat-rate calculation this equals the rate you entered; in bracket mode it will usually be lower than the top bracket rate, since lower portions of your income are taxed at lower rates first.
Does this account for deductions or credits?
No — this tool calculates tax on the full income figure you enter. Real-world tax bills are usually reduced by deductions, exemptions, credits and allowances specific to your situation, so your actual tax owed will typically differ from this estimate.
