Why Use This Tool?
How is WPM (Words Per Minute) calculated?
WPM is calculated using the standard formula: the number of correctly typed characters divided by 5 (the average length of a word), divided by the minutes elapsed. This is the same method used by most professional typing test tools, so your score here is comparable to results from other typing sites.
How is accuracy calculated?
Accuracy is the percentage of characters you typed correctly out of the total characters you typed, including any mistakes. Typing quickly but sloppily will boost your WPM while lowering accuracy, so the two numbers together give a fuller picture of your typing ability than speed alone.
What happens if I finish before 60 seconds?
If you type the entire sample paragraph correctly and completely before time runs out, the test ends immediately and calculates your results based on the actual time you took — you don't have to wait out the full minute.
Is this typing test free, and does it save my results?
Yes, it's completely free with no signup needed. Results are shown on screen for your own reference but aren't saved or uploaded anywhere — it's a private, judgment-free way for students and typists of any level to track their progress over repeated tries.
