Why Use This Tool?
Does this only work with my own video files?
Yes. This tool loads a video file directly from your device using your browser's built-in video player — it does not fetch, scrape or download videos from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or any other platform. If you want a custom thumbnail, export or save your video locally first, then load that file here.
Why would I want to grab a frame instead of using auto-generated thumbnails?
Auto-generated thumbnails often land on an awkward mid-blink or mid-motion moment. Manually scrubbing to the exact frame — a clean expression, a key product shot, a punchy on-screen graphic — gives you a far more clickable, intentional thumbnail for YouTube, a podcast episode, or a video post preview.
What video formats are supported?
Any format your browser can natively play back — typically MP4 (H.264), WebM and MOV in most modern browsers. If a file won't load, try converting it to MP4 first, since browser video codec support varies.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. The video is loaded locally into an HTML5 video element and the captured frame is drawn onto a canvas entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is transmitted anywhere, and no signup is required.
